Product Features

  • Coaching Made Simple

Coaching a room full of lifters is like supervising twenty toddlers simultaneously tying their shoes. This power bar helps control the chaos. Whether your athletes are benching, rowing, deadlifting, or pressing, there's a ring for that.

  • Quick & Easy Grips

You know the difference between close, regular, and wide grips, but your athletes don't. With 3 pairs of rings (close, powerlifting & weightlifting) on each side of the barbell, they never have to question where to place their hands. Why these rings aren't standard on every bar?

  • Reduce Injury Risk

Your job is to minimize injury risk, so your athletes can play at their best. With the center ring, you (or another athlete) can ensure proper alignment on the lifter's back to avoid lopsided teeter-totter squats and ensure consistent placement.

Coaching in a room full of lifters is chaos. It's loud. It's busy. And while you know the difference between wide, close, and regular grip, your athletes don't. But with the Hydra Seven Ring Bar, there's an app a ring for that!

3 pairs of rings (close, powerlifting & weightlifting) on each side simplify hand placement, while the center ring ensures consistent alignment and injury prevention during squats. Unless they miss-load the bar or let their egos call the shots—you know how new lifters can be.

Moderate knurling and a beefy 2000lb capacity make this power bar a pleasure to use for newbies and seasoned pros alike. Feel free to use this for some (peaceful) after-hours solo sessions. We won't tell if you don't.

    Hydra Seven Ring Bat

I’m very satisfied with this bar. It helps me train my beginners and helps them with proper hand placement on the bar, to ensure proper form and technique. It’s actually well made and a quality product.

This is a great powerlifting bar for anybody at any price!

I’m not a coach or terribly budget constrained. I chose the Hydra bar because I love carbon steel in all things from kitchen knives to bikes, thought it looked cool, and needed much more knurl than my Gladiator. And indeed, the knurling seems pretty perfect for my needs.

Don’t confuse “moderate” here with, say, the Bells 47” easy curl. This is significantly more aggressive. It is MUCH more aggressive than the silly "all around" bar, but not so aggressive that it seems impossible for my softer skinned partner.

The most important part of the experience for most anything are the bits you touch. Coated shafts just don’t feel the same. While stainless is practical, it doesn’t tug at my heart strings in the same way as bare steel nor does it seem as aesthetically ideal in the context of my black Bells rack. And at least in my Colorado climate, corrosion isn’t a big concern.

The looks are the biggest surprise. I was tempted by a smooth sleeved competitor and worried the chrome would be too shiny. But hard chrome sleeves have super fine grooves that greatly mute the shinyness without the deep ridges I dislike on the Bells EZ curl. (You can’t tell because the website pics are overexposed.) While I don’t really need seven rings, it makes the bar distinctive. I’m conflicted about the 60mm flanges and might prefer 30 or 40mm. But the combination of everything makes for an aesthetically interesting, muted by not “murdered out” bar with both vintage (flanges) and modern (seven rings)…
