Pick your frame

Same uprights as your rack, same holes, same bolts. Start slim in a corner, go wall-to-wall, or put it on wheels. Whatever you pick, the builder only lets you choose parts that actually fit.

One system

Every part bolts to every other part

Uprights, shelves, feet and attachments all share one hole pattern. That's why one bay becomes two, a dumbbell tray becomes a bumper shelf, and your storage can moonlight as a dip station.

  • Build this: Single post

    The corner killer

    Single post

    42" or 60" tall · 2 or 3 levels

    • Hydra
    • Manticore

Slim, light, and happy in the dead corner behind the door. Feet keep it planted.

  • Build this: Double post

    The wall of gains

    Double post

    42" to 108" tall · up to 5 levels

    • Hydra
    • Manticore

Four uprights per bay, every shelf type, and room to add bays until the wall runs out. Bolt it to the floor if you like.

  • Build this: Rolling

    The valet

    Rolling

Hydra double post · locking casters

    • Hydra

Roll it out to train, roll it back to park the car. Moves loaded, no unpacking (easier, not effortless).

Get it off the floor

A shelf for every sin

The 45 behind the door. The kettlebell you stubbed your toe on twice this week. The med ball that rolled under the bench in 2023. Each one gets a home.

Job 1

Bumper plates

Bumper plate pins shelf

Bumpers stand on edge between the pins, sorted by weight, so you pull the 25s without unstacking the 45s on top of them. Add a 3-pack of dividers and the colours stay in their lanes.

Kaevon's cue: heaviest plates on the lowest level. Your back and the centre of gravity both say thanks.

  • Manticore (not available)

Job 2

Dumbbells & kettlebells

Dumbbell tray

7-gauge steel trays rated to 1,000 lb / 454 kg each, like every shelf in the system. Angle them and dumbbell handles face you; lay them flat and kettlebells sit still. Same tray, your call, level by level.

Kaevon's cue: angled for dumbbells, flat for kettlebells. The builder shows you both in 3D before you commit.

On: Every frame, Hydra and Manticore

  • Hydra
  • Manticore

Job 3

Balls, bars & the random stuff

Plate & ball shelf + attachments

Rails that cradle med balls and slam balls up top. Then bolt the rest onto the uprights: barbell holders that hang your bars off the end of the run, an accessory holder on the front for bands, belts and chains, plate pegs and a basket for the small stuff. Even a landmine or a dip attachment, because why not.

Kaevon's cue: balls up top, bars on the end, bands on the front. Everything you grab every session is one reach away, and nothing blocks a shelf.

On: Every frame, Hydra and Manticore

Dividers, corners and a cable machine

Plate dividers

Clamp them anywhere on the bumper shelf. Colours stay in their lanes and the plates stop dominoing.

Measure twice, build once

How tall?

Every unit is 22" / 559 mm deep including the base plates, so it fits where a deep freezer doesn't. Height decides how many levels you get. Check your ceiling, then check it again.

Hydra

3" × 3" 11-gauge uprights, 5/8" holes and hardware. Feet with reinforcement plates or mini stabilizers, or casters on double post units.

Manticore

3" × 3" uprights with 1" holes and hardware. Stands on mini stabilizers. The match for a Manticore rack.

We read every review. Even the 3-stars.

You told us

We read them all, including the gripes. Here they are word for word, and what building the whole unit in one place changed.

  1. “The page for this product does not contain the height of the assembled rack… Needs to be about 6" taller.”

John D., owner of the Dumbbell/Kettlebell Shelf

Pick the height, see the height

Uprights start at 42" and go well past that, and the builder shows the height of every option before you buy. Every height is in the How tall? table.

  2. “it’s disappointing that wait for the plate dividers has taken some time.”

Tyler W., owner of the Bumper Plate Pins Shelf

    Dividers are in the builder

Add plate dividers right in the builder while you plan the bumper level, so they ship with everything else.

And what we kept

  • “I stacked mine all with my 45lbs plates. 12 in total. Held up with absolutely no worries.”

    Greg A.
  • “It’s extremely easy to put together by yourself, it’s stable, functional and looks great.”

    Davis R.
  • “Really cleans up my space.. this went from a space to workout into a gym!”

    Curtis H.
  • “These will never break.”

    Marc M.
  • “It’s BACKWARDS. The cool thing is that it makes me smile every time I look at it.”

Built different

The details

1,000 lb shelves

Every shelf type is rated to 1,000 lb / 454 kg. Load the whole set. It won’t sag, and neither will you.

Matches your rack

Same uprights, same hole pattern, same black powder coat as Hydra and Manticore racks. Rack attachments work on it, and the shelves mount to rack uprights too.

Grows sideways

Start with one bay, add more later. Add as many units as your wall fits, and neighbours share uprights, so every bay after the first needs fewer parts.

Rolls or plants

Flat feet with reinforcement plates or mini stabilizers, bolt a double post unit straight to the floor, or put a Hydra double post unit on casters and move it without unloading.

Your gear collection will grow. It always does.

Level up later

Nothing you buy today gets thrown out tomorrow. Bays share uprights, shelves swap levels, and every add-on bolts to the same holes. Here's how a corner unit turns into a wall.

One bay > more levels > more bays > the whole wall
  1. Level 1

    One unit

A single post corner unit or one double post bay. Two or three levels for the stuff you trip over most.

  2. Level 2

    Go up

Taller uprights, more levels: 4 levels from 72", 5 on the tallest. Swap a tray for a pins shelf when the bumpers show up.

  3. Level 3

    Go wide

Add as many units as your wall fits: there’s no limit. Neighbours share uprights, so every bay after the first needs fewer parts. Congratulations, you own a wall.

Power-ups

  • Plate pegs

Pin, 5" and 13" bolt-on pegs for the plates that live outside

  • Barbell holders

Vertical holder plus 1 and 2 bar wall holders

  • Utility hooks

Bands, belts, chains, jump ropes. Singles or a 10-pack

  • Storage basket

Collars, chalk, straps, the stuff with no home

  • Plate dividers

3-pack for the bumper shelf. Colours stay in their lanes

  • Training add-ons

Y dip, landmine and seal row pad on the storage uprights

Assembly & manuals

Bolt it up

Your unit is the one you designed, so it goes together in the same four moves every time. One owner called it “extremely easy to put together by yourself”. No epic meltdown required.

  1. 1

    Stand the uprights.

Add the feet, stabilizers or casters you picked. Leave every bolt snug, not tight.

  2. 2

    Hang the shelves.

Each shelf bolts to four uprights spaced 17" apart (two per side) with the hardware in the box.

  3. 3

    Add the extras.

Pegs, holders, hooks and dividers go straight onto the upright holes.

  4. 4

    Square it, then tighten.

Once it stands square, tighten everything down and load heavy stuff low.

Tools: a pair of wrenches. The upright casters take two 24 mm wrenches.

FAQ

Ask away

Still stuck? Ask a human.

Call 1-888-718-7997 or send us a message. Real people, real answers (and probably a bad pun).

How tall should my storage unit be?

Go by what you store and your ceiling. A 42" unit gives you 2 shelf levels, 60" gives 3, 72", 84" or 90" give 4, and 108" gives 5. Heads up: 108" uprights ship by freight only, not UPS ground. If you can’t pick them up, they need to be part of an order over 500 lb / 227 kg to meet the freight minimum, or we can’t ship them.

Will it work with my rack?

Pick the line your rack uses: Hydra for 5/8" hardware, Manticore for 1". Uprights, holes and finish match, rack attachments work on the storage uprights, and the shelves also mount to rack uprights spaced 17" apart.

How much weight can each shelf hold?

1,000 lb / 454 kg per shelf, every shelf type: dumbbell trays, plate & ball shelves and bumper plate pins shelves. The dumbbell trays are 7-gauge steel.

Can I add to it later?

Yes. Add as many bays side by side as your wall fits (there’s no limit, and neighbours share uprights), swap shelf types, or add pegs, hooks, holders and dividers whenever you buy more gear.

Does it need to be bolted down?

Flat feet with reinforcement plates or mini stabilizers keep it planted, and double post units can be bolted straight to the floor with no feet. Load heavy stuff low, and if you have little climbers at home, anchor tall units.

Can it roll?

Yes, Hydra double post units take casters, so you can move a loaded unit without emptying it (easier, not effortless). They install with two 24 mm wrenches. Lock the wheels before you train.

Will the shelves scratch my weights?

Liners are not included, and metal on metal can scratch the powder coat. A strip of rubber matting on each tray fixes it.

Where is the price?

In the builder. The total updates as you add parts, and that exact list goes to your cart.

Gym Storage Builder

Maximize every inch of your home gym with the Hydra Storage System!
This super storage unit is modular, so it adapts WITH you during different phases of your life, like moving to a new home or redesigning your gym space. It’s also expandable for when you’re ready to take over your living room…pending spousal approval, of course.
Instead of just expanding outwards, this standalone storage system is multi-tiered to maximize your vertical storage. Thanks to the supportive flat feet and stabilizer plates, build up to four shelves high to transform dead space into functional storage
The five upright heights match our Hydra ecosystem, so they’re compatible with Hydra rack attachments and Manticore racks.
With three shelf types in three lengths, you have plenty of options for storing your implements:
- Bumper Plate Pins Shelf for bumper plates
- Medicine Ball Shelf for wall balls & medicine balls
- Dumbbell Tray: angle it for dumbbells, lay it flat for kettlebells.
Supercharge it with a pack of Utility Hooks to hang resistance bands, lifting chains, and your collection of belts. FINALLY. You can let your inner neat freak run free.
