Compact & rackable barbell for tight spaces. Saves 17 inches of space.

Product Features

  • COMPACT GYM LIFESAVER

Sometimes, the best does come in small packages - we took our best-selling Utility Barbell and (literally) trimmed some off the top, while still allowing it to be racked in a power rack up to 49 inches wide.

  • PORTABLE MEETS PRACTICAL

It's just 69 inches long! Squat and bench in a tight space. Do landmine exercises where you otherwise couldn't. Store it in a Vertical Bar Holder, despite having 8-foot ceilings (we see you, basement dweller).

  • SMALL SIZE, ALL THE POWER

Everything you expect from a quality Olympic barbell just 17.6 inches shorter. And thanks to its 900-pound capacity, you can still chase that 800-pound deadlift with room to spare.

Product Details

The Short Rackable Utility Bar is where portability meets practicality. Whether you're lifting in a broom closet under the stairs (is that you, Harry?) or looking to optimize the usability of your Hydra Trident Station, a short rackable barbell is a saving grace for a space-constrained home gym.

We took our best-selling Utility Barbell and literally trimmed some off the top, while still allowing it to be racked in a power rack up to 49 inches wide.

This means you also get its most beloved features; versatile 28.5mm diameter, dual knurl markings, centre knurl for better grip on squats, and a durable black zinc coating. We even matched the sleeve finish for an all-black look that'll turn heads.

The shorter version is more practical for deadlifts and the Olympic lifts; but with its 900lb capacity and rackable feature, this one takes the cake for squats and bench presses in tight quarters.

IMPORTANT: The Short Rackable Utility Bar is rackable in a power rack up to 49 inches wide, which allows 1.375" of racking space on each side of the bar. For a NON-rackable version, check out the Short Utility Bar.

    Perfect light bar

Bought this to go along with my vts lite. Before with my power bar the starting weight was 75lbs which was too heavy of a start for me (140lbs male). This brought the weight down to 60lbs which made my life much easier. Wish the knurling was a tad more sharp but overall good product.

    Hey Duc,

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Short Rackable Barbell! We love hearing that it's helping you dial in those starting weights perfectly. While the knurling is designed to be a bit more moderate, we're stoked that the bar is serving its purpose and making your training more accessible.

    Perfect size, great bar

This bar is awesome for a small home gym. The shorter sleeves are not a problem for me, I'm not strong enough to max them out even with bumper plates. The knurling is definitely on the passive side but in the acceptable range for me. It has good, tight tolerances and a nice even finish. I use mine with a Giant Lifting 2x2 rack and it makes for a great setup. Worth it's price, no doubt.

Thanks a bunch for the fantastic review and the great photos, Chris! We're jazzed to hear that the Short Rackable Barbell fits perfectly into your home gym haven. The passive knurling and the bar's tight tolerances definitely make it a solid choice for many lifters. And hey, with that setup, you're ready to channel some serious gains!

    Awesome Bar, Generic Name

I work out in a 8x10 Tuffy Shed, and after bumping a standard olympic bar against my 6 post rack for the umpteenth time I decided to get this bar.

    Pros:

    It's beautiful and well-made

The size is fantastic--I can easily get this bar in and out of my rack and the sleeves are plenty long for 99% of lifters (provided you use steel plates and not rubber bumpers)

--it's lightweight, but has enough heft that you can put a 45 on one side and it won't potentially lever it off your rack (have a 24 lb cambered bar that threatens to do that)

    Cons:

--The name is so generic. Call this thing The Short King! Give it something, you have racks called the Hydra and a bar called the Arch Nemesis. How is this bar's name and description the exact same thing??

--The curling is too passive. I only use this bar for presses but if I were doing pulls with it I'd be dissapointed by the lack of curling. This can be improved.

--Increase the sleeve length a bit and bump this bar up to 30lbs from 29lbs. 30lbs is easy to do plate math with. 29lbs makes me pull out a calculator and dig up fractional plates.

Overall though I'm super happy with this bar and think it's a great addition to any small gym

    Hey Duran,

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Duran!
It’s awesome to hear the Short Rackable Barbell is working out so well in your Tuffy Shed setup — you're absolutely crushing it with that space optimization!
We love that you’re appreciating the bar’s build quality and practical dimensions — sounds like those sleeve lengths are hitting the sweet spot for your training needs.

You definitely had us grinning with that naming suggestion — "The Short King" has a mighty fine ring to it!

Your feedback on the knurling and weight specs is super valuable, and we’ll pass this along to our product development team!
