"I got this bar yesterday, I PRd with it today (18 hours later)... I seriously love this bar." — Franklin M., Verified Buyer

The B.o.S. Powerlifting Bar is built to IPF specs. Train exactly how you'd compete, without paying competition bar prices.

  • IPF-spec knurl marks + center knurl → Dual powerlifting marks so your grip is always competition-legal. Center knurl bites into your back for low-bar squats. No slipping, no guessing.
  • Aggressive knurling → As coarse as we could make it without tearing your hands up. Deadlifts stick. Squats lock in. That's the whole point.
  • Hardened chrome sleeves on bushings + snap rings → Smooth, consistent spin session after session. Built to stay that way.
  • Two finishes, one bar → Bare Steel + Hard Chrome for that raw feel and natural chalk response. Black Cerakote for rust resistance and a clean all-black look.
  • 3 time award winner → Garage Gym Reviews Best Budget Power Bar three years running (At some point it's not budget, it's just best.)

Why a Powerlifting Bar?

Because a general-purpose bar is a compromise — and your squat, bench, and deadlift deserve better.

  • Train how you compete → IPF-spec dimensions mean the bar in your pain cave behaves exactly like the one on the platform. No adjustment period on meet day.
  • Knurling that actually grips → Most bars sand the knurl down to protect beginners. This one doesn't. If you want grip, you get grip.
  • Stiffer shaft, more predictable lift → Less whip means less energy wasted managing bar movement. More goes into the lift.
  • Pick your finish → Bare steel develops character over time and loves chalk. Cerakote stays clean and fights rust. Pick what fits your gym and your habits.

If squat, bench, and deadlift are your three favourite words, this is your bar.

Warranty & Guarantees

Every Powerlifting Bar comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty, so you can lift with confidence.

We design our gear to last through years of serious training, but if something ever goes wrong due to a defect in materials or workmanship, we’ve got your back.

Here’s the gist:

You’re covered against manufacturer defects for the lifetime of the product. If the bar bends or fails under normal use within rated capacity (1,500 lb / 680 kg), we replace it.

What’s not covered? Normal wear and tear, cosmetic scratches, or dropping it loaded onto safeties from height isn't "normal use."

How it works: If you ever need to make a claim, just reach out to us with your order details and a quick description of the issue. Our team will review it and get you sorted as quickly as possible.

Bare-steel care: Small surface oxidation may appear on arrival — that's the protective oil coating doing its job. Clean with Simple Green + a BBQ brush, wipe with a microfiber cloth, lightly oil. Done.

Cerakote care: Nylon brushes or microfiber only. Skip the metal-on-metal scrub. Cerakote is rust-resistant. Let's keep it that way.

Product Features

  • 1,500 lb / 680 kg STATIC CAPACITY

This powerlifting barbell can hold more weight than you'll ever pull. You’ll give up long before the bar does. And if not? Bravo.

  • 210,000 PSI tensile strength

Same tensile class as powerlifting bars priced 2x higher. The whip stays minimal — exactly what a powerlifter wants.

  • AGGRESSIVE CHEESE-GRATER KNURLING

As coarse as we can cut it without shredding your hands. This knurling sticks to your palms like peanut butter to the roof of your mouth (the kind of grip that earns PRs).

Product Details

A whippy gym-class barbell? You're not serious yet. A 1,500 LBS / 680 KG slab of stiff steel with knurl that bites? Now we're talking.

This is a powerlifting bar. Not a hybrid. Not a "good enough." Built to IPF specs without the jacked up certification price tag: 29 mm shaft, powerlifting-only knurl marks, center knurl, aggressive knurling cut that actually grips.

It does three things: squat, bench, deadlift. Sure, you can use it for rows, lunges, and good mornings, but those are just gravy on your meat and potatoes. (Need a bar that does everything without apology? The Multi-Purpose Utility Bar is your huckleberry.)

44.09 LBS / 20 KG. 86-5/8" / 2,200 mm overall length. 16-15/16" / 430 mm of loadable sleeve per side — enough for any plates you own and the ones you'll buy when the PRs start stacking up. Speaking of plates: if you're training seriously for competition, load it with Calibrated Powerlifting Plates — thinner profile, IPF color coding, and within +/- 10 grams of claimed weight.

TWO FINISHES. One mission.

  • Bare Steel (AKA The Barenaked Powerlifting Bar): Raw, reactive, built for chalk. Develops a natural patina over time. For the lifter who doesn't care how it looks as long as it performs.
  • Black Cerakote: Same bar, corrosion-resistant finish that keeps it looking sharp session after session. For the lifter who trains in humid basements or wants a dark and moody vibe.

Garage Gym Reviews named it BEST BUDGET POWER BAR three years in a row. Hundreds of reviews. 4.9/5 stars. 97% recommend. The most common review starts with "the knurling…" and ends with "…PR'd."

Same 1,500 LBS / 680 KG capacity. Same 29 mm shaft. Same IPF-spec geometry as bars priced two-to-four times higher.

LIMITED LIFETIME warranty. Canada flat-rate shipping (capped at $199 CAD).

Load it up and get that next PR.

IMPORTANT: For bare steel barbells, we take extra precautions to reduce any oxidation/rusting while in storage and transit by coating the barbell in oil but small rust spots may be visible when you receive it. Clean it with some simple green cleaner and a BBQ brush, then wipe dry with a microfiber cloth.

Click here for a how-to video and How To Clean a Bare Steel Barbell.

For cerakote-coated barbells, use Nylon brushes or microfiber towels only! Avoid abrasive metal-to-metal contact from tight-fitting collars, weight plates, un-lined landmine attachments, and j-cups, to preserve that beautiful rust-resistant finish for years to come!

Barbell is built to IPF specs, but is not IPF certified. In other words, you can use it for competition training and get the real feel, but not on the platform.

Customers say this powerlifting bar offers exceptional grip with its aggressive knurling that provides secure handling without being overly harsh. Fantastic bargain!

I purchased this bar January 2026 because I wanted something with good knurling. Since then, I’ve absolutely loved it.

Being the type who can’t leave things alone, I decided to blue the bar. I’m fully aware it will wear over time, and I’m fine with that. The result turned out fantastic!

Fantastic choice and even better upgrade. Sounds like you knew exactly what you wanted and that knurling delivered. We love hearing that it’s been a joy to lift with since day one.

Thanks for sharing your experience and putting your own spin on it.

    Yours in strength,

    The B.o.S. Crew.

    Great Bar !

It seems great, alhough I have never had one before but did do some extensive research before landing on this one.. The knurling is as deep as they claim it is allowing for a secure grip on the bar.. I'm very pleased with my purchase

    Best value. Phenomenal quality

I love this bar and the cheese grater knurling. Definitely is a world of difference compared to my prior walmart bar. The knurling is aggressive just like how I like it and I like the tolerances of the bar. It really feels like one piece rather than how other bars would rattle a lot. It was also packaged very well as there was no damages to the bar I received. It was packaged so well that I use the packaging as a cover over my pin pipe safeties on my current rack!

    Holly $h1t!

I got this bar yesterday, I PRd with it today (18 hours later) .. I seriously love this bar. I’ve been lifting with the REP Colorado bar, this is the first power lifting bar I’ve own, so maybe that’s why I’m so impressed by it. But one thing I know for sure I do NOT regret buying this bar!

Franklin, that's incredible - a PR within 18 hours?! That's exactly what we love to hear! We're stoked that your first powerlifting bar experience has been such a game-changer. The knurling and feel of a dedicated powerlifting bar really makes all the difference compared to multi-purpose bars. Sounds like you made the perfect choice for taking your lifts to the next level!

    Yours in strength,

    Big fan of this bar

While I don't have any real point of comparison, I love using this bar. The knurling is exceedingly sharp, which is exactly what I wanted. If you're looking for a bar with sharp knurling, that's exactly what you'll get. I'm a big fan of the bare steel look, and overall it feels great.

It's awesome to hear that the knurling is hitting that perfect sharp level you wanted. We're also really glad to hear that you're digging the bare steel look and that the overall feel is spot on for you.

    Yours in strength,
    The B.o.S. Crew.
